I love wok n roll there Chinese is great. I go there every time I have a need for Chinese. The area is not good but they have two of my favorite places wok n roll and blu bird spa.

The manager/owner is super cool and the workers there are very friendly. The service is fast and the food comes out great! I recommend the sesame chicken or general tsos chicken. Its great express chinese food when you are on the go. They also deliver which is a great service!

Disappointing first trip. I'm holding off really hammering this place until I go back at least once, in not a couple more times. I'm a big believer in "you have to find the 'right' thing for you." I definitely didn't do that the first time around. No soy on the table. Bugged me. A small thing, but noticeable nonetheless.

Good food, generous portions, reasonable prices. Love that they offer the combo's all day. Good for when I'm craving Chinese and want take out close to home. Tiny inside and zero ambiance so get it to go

Randomly Yelped this place while in the mood for Chinese. It's tucked away in a little shopping plaza that I've passed a million times and I'm bummed I hadn't noticed it earlier. It had everything you look for in Chinese takeout: clean, fairly priced, good portions, good crab Rangoon (the mark of good Chinese in my opinion), and quick service. I only take away one star because I asked for my Orange Chicken to be spicy and got it somewhere distantly resembling spicy.

Ok, not sure why there is a picture of Javier arenas for the business photo but I'll look past that This is a really solid Chinese joint. The all day combo is a definite plus, dishes are around $6 and include entree, fried/white/brown rice, crab Rangoon and egg roll (or 2 of an item), and of course a fortune cookie. Great value. Open till 10pm The inside is small and most people prefer carry out but it's nice sometimes to sit down with a bud and enjoy some tasty Chinese. They have a wide variety of dishes and even do sushi rolls which I have yet to try but look enticing! The location is fine by me but I know many cranky people who would complain about how it's "hidden." I've gone there several times over the years and will continue to eat there.

I went to wok and roll yesterday to order some date night food, I ordered the honey chicken and got my boyfriend the mongolian beef. I got two entrees and white rice. My total was $17 dollars and some change. NO drink. So for $20 it seems a little ridiculous but the food is worth it in my opinion since I'm not a fan of chinese. My boyfriend was thrilled with his mongolian beef and I liked the chicken. You get nice sized portions for what you pay for.

One of the best Chinese food places I've been to. More of a takeout restaurant than a sir down but its cheap and good. I normally get the sesame chicken and the sushi and have never had a problem with either one. This place is a great example if don't judge a book by its cover.

This place is by far one of the best "Chinese food" places in Kansas City. I use quotations because every single city and town has one of these places...Lucky or Dragon tend to be in the name, and they always list General Tso's and Happy Family under specials. Well, this place is no different except for the quality of food and service. They go far beyond any traditional Chinese food place I have ordered from. The prices are reasonable and the delivery is pretty quick. Also, this is one of the only places like this that I have eaten at that uses real Lo Mein noodles...so dont miss out on that.

Most of the time I find standard American style Chinese food generic and, many times, totally unappetizing, but some of these restaurants can produce a decent meal at a great price. Wok n Roll Express is one of these restaurants. I ordered chicken Lo Mein (my standard) and it was quite good. I always take it as a good sign when I see square lo mein noodles as opposed to spaghetti. While lacking on the vegetables, the lo mein at Wok n Roll was flavorful, and I felt no need to add soy sauce or any other flavoring. The egg roll was good, and I'd say home made. The crab rangoon was also tasty. Wok n Roll express is one of the better "Chinese" restaurants around the OP area. When you factor in the price it kicks arse (very cheap).

Absolutely amazing! I was shocked at how good it was. Can't wait to go back. Head and tails above New Chinatown. Some would argue its among the best in the city. Very reasonably priced. If the great taste isn't enough, you get 2 egg rolls with your combo :-) Give it a try.

I have only experienced doing business with this place as a delivery customer. We have ordered from here twice. The food comes quick, it comes hot, and it comes accurate. You get a lot of bang for the buck for sure. A huge pile of food....good food....for a very reasonable price. Making 2 or more meals out of an entree is a given. The first time we ordered from here, from the time we placed the order, the delivery driver was at our door in 10 minutes. It wasn't quite so fast the second time, but the food still arrived well within an acceptable time frame. Wok 'n Roll gets my recommendation for sure.

Not only does this place deserve a 0, I'm not sure if it should even be allowed to remain open - yes I'm talking food safety wise. I've had wok n roll a couple times, and have always loved it. This particular time the 4 of us (wife, and our best friends who are another married couple) order 2 shrimp fried rice, 2 general tso's, crab rangoon, and philly roll. A little over $30 of Chinese, and NONE of it was eatable... First the crab rangoon had no filling, I'm not exaggerating, there was no filling in there... Just clumps of fried dough. Deep fried dough in old, old, nasty grease. We couldn't eat them. The philly roll had to be well over a month old, it was mushy... and not like a good kind of texture - it was weird, smelled weird, and tasted weird. Again, uneatable. Both shrimp fried rices tasted metallic... with a touch of ammonia - it was quite literally stomach turning JUST SMELLING IT! Oh not to mention the MOLDY CARROTS in the rice... The food safety board might wanna send someone over there. The egg rolls were basically about 2" of deep fried dough, again in some super nasty old grease... these were at least decent enough to choke one down. But given the other dishes we ordered we tossed these as well. The general tso's was the only silver lining - we all took a couple bites to at least feel better about wasting $30-something on crappy Chinese. I don't know what happened here, i mean it was 12:30pm sunday... I certainly don't think this is an off hour by any means. We loved this place every time before we ordered from here... But NEVER again, this place isn't sanitary - luckily none of us have signs of food poising. We only took about 4 bites of tso's chicken and just given everything else we got, we didnt want to risk it and tossed it as well... Be for warned guys - order at your own risk here...

The way this place smells on the inside is the way your food will taste, like a moldy old person's basement. I took two bites of my food and nearly vomited. Yes, it's cheap and yes, it's fast but that smell...the only thing that was edible was anything deep fried. Save your money and your stomach.

I wish there was a negative star... Anyway, I just got delivery and my god... The sesame chicken tasted like mush covered dry over cooked chicken. I couldn't eat hardly any of the sesame chicken, the rice was ok, and the crab Rangoon was tuff as hell. For the price with delivery, I should have just eaten a bowl of Cheerios and flushed my money done the toilet. Terrible...

Tiny little spot, but I'm so happy to have found it because the food was really good and their sesame chicken reminds me of a place back home that burned down years ago and never reopened and I have MISSED that food so much for 20 something years. Excited to go back. I've told my friends about it and they're already hooked!

The service was good and the food was tasty. The place was clean, but there was something off about the hygienic conditions...

I went in with low expectations, and walked out with some pretty delicious Chinese food. I had the General Tso's all day special with fried rice. The chicken was coated in a good amount of sauce without becoming soggy. It still had a good crispy crunch like a good General Tso's should. The Broccoli was fresh and perfectly steamed. The crab rangoon was really good, crispy, and had more of a cream cheese flavor than a crab flavor, which I personally prefer. I would say the egg rolls were "hearty". They were very thick and crispy on the outside and densely packed with whatever goes in them on the inside. They were a little large for my taste, but that's a good problem to have I guess, I'm sure someone else would have loved them. I also liked that they give you about a cup and a half of rice, it wasn't a heaping scoop or half a takeout box worth, but I don't go Chinese places for the rice. It was presented more as a side than a main course, which is how it should be. All in all, for only $7 out the door, I would say I was impressed. I've paid a lot more for a lot a lot less. I would carry out or get delivery, the place is pretty small ( four or five tables ). But if eating in small awkward strip mall Chinese food places is your thing, go for it. Give it a try and support your small local Chinese place before it's gone! "An optimistic attitude is half of success." - My Fortune Cookie P.S. Hard work is the other half. Much love Yelpers!

The honey chicken is good but I've had better!! Definitely disappointed the green beans had more onions then beans and didn't taste as good as I've had in other places!! Disappointed because I chose this place because of the high reviews!

I live within walking distance so needless to say I order here maybe once a month when I feel lazy and don't want to cook. I always try something different off the menu and am never disappointed. Love the beef with peppers and onions! Its always hot and ready within 20 min. or less. Good prices, you can get a combo with rice and an egg roll or crab rangoon for around $6. Consistent, friendly service.

The crab rangoons were delicious and fresh out of the fryer. The lunch combo is very cheap for a large amount of food. Highly recommended.

Since I moved to this part of OP, I've been on a hunt for yummy Chinese food. This is the best I've found! The sugar rolls are to die for, and I really enjoyed the crab rangoons, General Tso's chicken, and egg roll. Great menu and very reasonably priced. I'll be back again!

The only place since moving from New Jersey to Kansas that I've found with excellent General Tso's chicken. After I moved here I was depressed by the deplorable Asian cuisine in Overland Park. I judged every place by three criteria, how well they made egg rolls, how well they made Won Ton soup, and how well they made General Tso's chicken. While most places passed on the egg rolls and soup, everyone failed on my favorite chicken dish. Everyone had a different take on this NYC classic: too sweet, too mushy, not piquant enough, wrong cut of meat, etc. After 2 years living here I had given up. I'd never have my favorite dish again outside of visits home. One day I decided to try Wok n Roll Express and I was glad I did. Wok n Roll looks like a little hole in the wall, but they are cranking out some of the best Chinese takeout off of the east coast. I almost cried when I tried the chicken, it was exactly like home. Crispy exterior, moist interior, dark meat chicken the way it should be made. It was spicy with right amount of sweetness. There was just enough broccoli to make it legit. The fried rice that came with it is not greasy and is quite delicious. Other good dishes include a very tasty MooShu Pork (order extra pancakes and hoisin), and an excellent Hunan chicken with loads of vegetables, the Hunan Chicken is my backup dish when I want a break from their amazing General Tso Chicken. They also make homemade mustard in house, so ask for some for a sinus searing experience with your eggrolls! White, brown and fried rice options with all dishes other than Lo-mein. Try them out for takeout, but call it in and pick it up. Their drivers are slow, and the food gets mushy on the ride. If you get a combo platter, ask to have them pack the egg roll separately to preserve the crunch, if it is left in the styrofoam container it turns to tasteless mush. Solid 5 stars. Wok n Roll, thank you for showing me good Chinese food can be found in the Midwest!

Quick, clean, and good service. Pretty small on the inside. Ordered take out on a Friday and they had it ready in 20 minutes (probably sooner). The quart of egg drop soup was good, the 6 crab Rangoon side was some of the best I've had, as is their sweet and sour sauce. The beef and broccoli with white rice was good with large chunks of beef, broccoli, carrots, and one other vegetable I couldn't identify but was good. Some of the best I've had and for the price it is about as good as you can find I think. Wish I could give 4 1/2 stars. It will be my go to Chinese for now. Looking forward to trying the general Tso's chicken that everybody says is fantastic!

Ugh! Another place I really wanted to like based upon the positive reviews. I didn't think it was too bad while we were eating, but having no desire to eat the leftovers the following day made me realize how much I disliked most of what we ordered. In a veggie mood, we ordered the vegetable mu shu dinner, along with the veg lo mein and hunan chicken meals (the last two came with a crab rangoon and egg rolls). A lot of food for only $20! While we actually enjoyed the mu shu in spite of the dry pancakes, the other two dishes weren't very good. they were bland and a little greasy. I was hoping this would become our go-to neighborhood place when we were craving Chinese, but based upon our experience it will take a lot for us to head back there.

Ordered 2 hours ago and food still has not arrived. Unacceptable. If you only have one driver (what the lady on the phone told me after I called to check on order) and you have too many orders you simply have to hire another driver or stop taking orders. Frustrating.

Lots of choices, including brown rice. I like the option of choosing all white meat. Large portions. Location is small and clean. A few tables, but it's in the name- "roll" on out with your food. They also deliver. Downside- the food I ordered was a somewhat bland. I fixed it up with soy sauce and chili sauce, but I am paying for it to be seasoned. I am going to try something new on my next trip.

I've been wanting to go to this place for a long time and I finally had the chance. I would say their food is really good! Menu - The menu is typical of a lot of chinese places with many choices. I wanted to stay safe since I've never been before, so I ordered the chicken fried rice with a side of steam dumplings. Price - Prices are a little cheaper than most places. I like combo menus and theirs included 1 crab rangoon and 1 egg roll. My total was about $10 for the fired rice and dumplings and I was full with left overs. Location -It's right off of 83rd and Metcalf in a little strip mall across from Mr Gyro's. It's the last store of the building next to a Payday loan, Liquor store and a another small shop. I didn't think it was hard to find. Restaurant/Service -The place is really small. I only saw about 5 or 6 tables on one side of the restaurant. But this is more of a take out place anyway so I wouldn't stay and eat. I thought the place was very clean and they keep the condiment area in good order. They were very nice and they had my order out in about 5 min. I would go back to this place to try the other items on the menu and for the prices.

One of my work mates turned me on to this place, tucked away in a little shopping center on 83rd just East of Metcalf. Good Asian American food at a very fair price. I tried the Szechuan Pork and had them make it extra spicy. Very tasty. The sides were good too. I plan to go back and try some of the other entrees.

Good food. Large portions and man is it quick. Don't bother calling in just order when you get there and it'll be done fast.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
